Before you start, make sure your Eatster POS is running in Kitchen Display Mode.

If you want to change the mode, learn how to do it here.

Order Types

We differentiate orders according their:

  1. Pickup time

    1. Scheduled orders - these arrive with user's requested time of when the order is whished to be done. The staff can either accept the time or increase it by choosing on of these 4 options:

    2. ASAP orders - these arrive without any specific time and they should be handled as soon as possible.

  2. Pickup method

    1. To-go

    2. Eat in

      1. With the seat reservation - staff should make sure, there will be enough seating for the customer when he/she arrives.

      2. Without the seat reservation

    3. To a specific place number (usually table but can be also hotel room etc.)

    4. Delivery to a specific address (coming soon)

Order Priorities

Kitchen display system is using a smart sorting algorithm that is making sure the top priority order is always at the top (in the landscape mode means top left order, in the vertical mode top order). The lowest priority orders are then at the end of the list (bottom right for landscape mode, bottom for vertical mode).

Order States

There are four states in which you can find your order:

  1. Order waiting to be confirmed
This is an initial state of every self-ordered order (that means order coming from Cash Register mode don't belong here). These orders require your staff's attention by ringing and are displayed in red color. To confirm the order press anywhere inside the order's rectangle and afterwards press Confirm order or confirm one of the requested times in case of scheduled orders or Mark as paid in case the order requires staff to receive payment first.

  2. Order being prepared
There orders are in preparing mode which means staff is already aware of theirs's existence. Now they are also displayed on TV tracking screens (more about those in this article), the notification has been sent to users as well (more about mobile apps here) and order's color inside the kitchen display system turns yellow. To mark these orders as ready to be picked up press anywhere inside the order's rectangle and afterwards press Mark as done.

  3. Order is ready to be picked up

Now the orders turn white, the users receive a notification to pick up their orders and the TV tracking screens update the status as well. To mark these orders as picked up, press anywhere inside the order's rectangle and afterwards press Mark as picked up.

  4. Order is done

These orders disappear from your Kitchen Display as well as from the TV tracking screens.

Order actions

  • Order refund - select the order you want to refund by tapping on it and then click on the three horizontal dots in the top right corner of the order detail window. Then specify the amount to be returned (by default is the entire amount) and tap on Refund the money. Note that this flow is only available for Stripe orders, for the rest follow the steps in this article.

  • More coming soon...

Other kitchen display features

  • Order overflow - in order to use as much space as possible to display order details we start displaying order in one column and overflow the rest to the next. This is illustrated by "tearing up" the order as seen below at the end of the first column and at the beginning of the next column for the order E21, E24 and E19.

  • Changing statuses in bulk - have you received a lot of orders in a short amount of time? Not a problem, just hold your finger on top of the order and "multi-select" mode will be activated. Now you can either select specifically all orders you want to update or use button Select All to quickly check all of them (note that you can only select all orders within the same status at once). Moreover, if the orders have arrived with customer's requested time you need to select additional time to prepare (+0,+10,+15, +30min) that will be applied to all of them before confirming them.
